The case for impeachment

Here is an excerpt to a long essay on why America can no longer afford the W regime, and must call for impeachment.

Thanks to Karen Bradley of Democracy Cell Project for mentioning this.

The Los Angeles immigration debate

I just read a TruthOut article regarding immigration - particularly the impact of low-wage illegals and the high black unemployment rate.

Immigration policies must reflect the supply and demand of the labor market. If skilled workers are unavailable due to the American education system's inability to crank out its own skilled worker pool, then immigrants must be brought in to fill the gap. On the other hand, if there is a high unemployment rate due to an oversupply of workers, bringing in immigrants will only exacerbate the problem and cause wages to crash.

For the working-class native-born blacks and Latinos, immigration has proven to be a disaster, because many illegal migrants are willing to work for slave wages and no benefits. Here in Los Angeles, instead of being paid $30/hour plus benefits and the ability to organize, the construction workers, for example, now must live on $10/hour and no benefits, because if they won't, illegal aliens will.

The approaches to solving the current immigration problems vary. There are labor unions who see a new opportunity - by organizing with immigrant labor. In fact, Los Angeles's hotel janitors have made impressive gains that way. But native-born working class citizens still want to have the jobs first, instead of offering guest worker programs that will give away more jobs to foreign workers at slave wages.

I think the real issue comes down to education, and the system's failure to produce a well-educated workforce. This forces Americans into lower-end jobs, where they face stronger competition from slave-wage illegal aliens. And if employers are favoring more immigration just so that the immigrants can work at slave wages and crash wage levels for everybody, nothing could be more evil than that - everyone loses, natives and immigrants alike. There must also be mechanisms where employers are severely punished for hiring illegals, and where labor laws are strictly enforced on legals and natives. And last, but not the least, special-interest immigration programs, such as automatic asylum offered to Cubans and Koreans, shall never, ever have a place in American immigration policy again.

Personal setback

Having been forced to return to my parents against my will, and being unable to move back out due to damaged credit (thanks to extended unemployment caused by discrimination), I am not in a situation where I can do things freely - like, taking estrogen pills which are essential for my physical and mental development.

My hormone pills were found back in August, and I haven't been able to take them regularly ever since; the best I could do was to take them only when I had some privacy. That meant erratic dosages and wild mood swings. In fact, I've been extremely fickle and upset for the past week.

I went to my nurse to discuss the situation, and he asked me to stop the hormones until I am able to take the pills daily. The swings are just too much, and destructive to my well-being.

So as of today, I am back to being a testosterone-based life form. My body will certainly not appreciate losing its feminization over the next several months, and my mind will not appreciate going back to male-pattern thoughts. And again, the worst thing is that I am not doing this out of my own choice; I am forced against my will. What did I do in my past life, to deserve being born into a family hailing from a primitive culture?

Perhaps the only silver lining out of this is that I will not lose my feminization completely, and that when I am ready again, I can definitely shoot back to my nurse and pick everything up more or less where I left off today.

Another plus is that my bankruptcy filing will be five years old later this year, which will make applying for apartments easier. Although a bankruptcy stays on my record for ten years, most apartments, to my knowledge, count only the last five years of credit. I should also have financial statements and bank statements documenting my income, and possibly an installment loan on a new car, strengthening my credit portfolio. (Speaking of the new car, once again, I will think long and hard before committing to another Catholic BMW, even though it does appear to be the best car available at my budget.)

South Dakota bans abortions. Period.

Well, not ALL abortions. Your life has to be in grave danger in order to be allowed one.

If you are raped or become a victim of incest? Too bad. Have the damn kid. It's your fault that you are retarded or slutty enough to let it happen.

This travesty of a law was passed so that legal challenges can begin, culminating in a Supreme Court battle where John Roberts and Samuel Alito will make it easier to get Roe v. Wade overturned.

If life is so precious that it requires protecting from the moment of conception, why not ramp up other aspects of life to prove the point, like providing quality education and healthcare? Or is this just a ruse to make sure that a large slave class will be born intact to serve the needs of W's aristocrats and fight their wars?

The sponsor of this legislation was a DEMOCRAT. South Dakota is also known for its at-large Representative Stephanie Herseth, a homophobic Democrat. Who needs Republicans, when Democrats are doing such a good job of destroying lives of women and gays? This is precisely why DCCC and DSCC, even if they can get John Kerry to beg for my money (as they did in their latest email), will never see a cent of it again. I don't expect every single Democrat to think and act alike, but this is way over the line and completely unacceptable.

CNN

P.S. The way things are going, my neocon father gives America about 100 more years before it falls apart and Balkanizes. I won't even give 10 years. We agreed on one thing: being a millionaire will be the only way to survive.

W puts national security at risk

According to Stephanie Miller this morning:
  • W is going to ram through the proposed sale of 6 US ports to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates government. This is despite the fact that UAE provided two of the 9/11 hijackers and much of the financing, as well as supporting Osama bin Laden. The blogosphere is up in arms over this - and so are lawmakers from BOTH parties.
  • W has also fired badly needed Arabic and other language translators in the military, just because they were gay.
Neither development makes America any safer. If anyone is still deluded about W being the "security President," that is a sorry, and a DANGEROUS, delusion. Maybe the only thing W makes people secure about would be that he is the latest Christian prophet, and can perhaps deliver believers to heaven while the rest of us die in the Armageddon.

20 February 2006

The Clash of Two Dueling Death Cults

That would be Christianity as practiced by America and Prophet W, and Islam as practiced by Iran.

Sure, most of the American public prefers diplomatic solution to the Iranian "problem," but W's dictatorship is determined to do anything - including staging another "terrorist attack" on US soil - into making Americans cower into supporting the Iran War. And the average American is dumb enough (thank you for the incessant attack on public education, and the drive to replace it with religious education) to fall for that, even though this ruse has been done before - using 9/11 as an excuse for the Iraq War - and ended up a failure.

There are some very deep, thoughtful ideas in the following TruthOut article, written by Heather Wokusch.

Republicans ask for church directories

They are at it again, in North Carolina.

Even the churches themselves are balking, because they may lose their tax-exempt status by participating in such partisan tactics (as if they don't do in other ways already). The Republicans are claiming that the churches can participate AND stay tax-exempt (and I don't doubt it, since if all else fails, Prophet W can issue an executive order).

This is disgusting. And they dared to call the Democratic-labor alliance disgusting. The Democratic-labor alliance isn't disgusting, it's toothless.

Another TruthOut article

This one is by William Rivers Pitt.

The Department of Homeland Security supposedly did a "war exercise" against the proliferation of Internet bloggers who are critical of the W junta. Apparently, I am a direct enemy of W now. (Well, W has always been my enemy, from the moment he took two of my jobs away and as he keeps pushing for the eventual extermination of LGBTs.)

Given that he also wants to exterminate the provisions of the United States Constitution, he, and his religious and corporate collaborators, are truly the most dangerous enemy of the American democracy.

TruthOut

The Human Cost of War

Here is a thoughtful article, co-written by Cindy Sheehan and Sam Bostaph for TruthOut.

The financial and human costs of the Iraq War are devastating, as it takes a toll on the American standard of life, America's ability to respond to emergencies like Katrina, and the notion of American freedom. As the two make it clear, as W claims to defend freedom abroad, Americans are giving up their freedoms to an ever-expanding federal government.

And again, as I think about it, this killing - and the destruction of survivors' lives - are what the Christians are advocating, by backing their "prophet" W. They have lost all credibility with me; don't tell me Jesus had nothing to do with the Old Testament or Paul, because it won't fly with me anymore. Maybe instead of calling themselves "Xtians," the Christians should refer to themselves as "Wtians."

TruthOut

It's official.

Christianity is a bloodthirsty death cult that WILL exterminate people it doesn't like.

Media Matters recently reported that the American Family Association (the same organization that temporarily made Ford Motor Company screw its gay customers over) has called for the execution of homosexuals, abortionists, and adulterers, in line with the Death Book's principles.

It's WAR. I'm reminded again. Not even the presence of "liberal" Christians like the United Church of Christ will change the fact that this is a bloodthirsty death cult that is no different from Sharia Islam, and must be exterminated itself. In fact, there is no bigger oxymoron than "liberal Christian."

From now on, the only thing the Death Book is good for, for me, would be "opposition research."

Media Matters

New torture photos from Abu Ghraib

These are TRULY sickening.

As long as these photos exist, and the fascist motherfuckers responsible for them remain in power (legitimately or otherwise), I will not be able to take ANY pride in being an American. I can't be proud of a country that engages in such disgusting acts of torture and openly flouts international law.

Viewer discretion is STRONGLY advised.

Daily Kos

Mohammed cartoon uproar

The latest in this issue, which started when a group of Danish cartoonists drew a picture of Prophet Mohammed hiding a bomb in his turban, has a cleric offering a huge reward for the murder of the cartoonists.

In Islam, any physical depiction of The Prophet is a no-no, and a satirical depiction like the cartoon in question is even more so.

I would sympathize with the Muslims, if they weren't asking for MY head because of who I am, and if they weren't calling for the death of nonbelievers in general. You can call Islam a peace religion all you want, but as far as I can observe, it is a death cult, plain and simple, no different from the Christianity currently practiced in the United States. Again, religion must strive to bring peace and prosperity (not necessarily material prosperity) to the believers and the world at large, and Islam and Christianity are doing just the opposite.

Technorati

Technorati is a blog search service that searches and indexes blogs, much like Google archives normal webpages. Technorati is better suited for the fast-changing contents of blogs.

I registered myself and my blogs with Technorati in hopes of getting extra traffic to my blogs, and categorizing my blog posts. For now, I need to study its functions more and see what I can do with it.

A pleasant surprise: a Chicago-based femme lesbian is running a blog on gender variance, and includes this blog as one of her links. I'll definitely keep a tab on that blog.

Paul Hackett, out of politics

The morons who run today's Democratic Party have shot themselves in the foot again.

They have pressured Paul Hackett, a decorated Iraq War veteran and a straight-talking antiwar activist, into giving up his run for the Senate seat in Ohio, showing a strong preference for Sherrod Brown in his bid against incumbent Republican Mike DeWine.

Hackett is an extremely honest and popular man who won his support through his House campaign last year, almost defeating a Republican incumbent in a heavily Republican district. He is a hero among the bloggers and the progressives on the Internet.

By crushing a rising hero, and possibly driving him out of politics altogether, the Democrats have demonstrated clearly that they don't want to ever rule again, and that the US is now a one-party state, where the corrupt, hate-filled Republicans are the only party that matters.

I am glad to be a nonpartisan, as opposed to a Democrat, today, and supporting fellow now-nonpartisan organizations, such as the Democracy Cell Project, as opposed to the Democratic Party.

Torture at Guantanamo Bay

At least that's the conclusion of the United Nations.

Not that W and his neocon supporters would ever care, anyway, since to them, the UN is no more than a threat to American sovereignty and power. Honestly, that kind of thinking belongs to a rogue state like Iran, not to a productive member of the global community.

TruthOut article

A post from Daily Kos

I haven't started monitoring Daily Kos, another major progressive blog, until just about now, but the article they have now is absolutely on the point.

It quotes an article from Glenn Greenwald's blog, which states that W has now built a personality cult, where actions are right because they're W's actions, and any deviation from the W agenda gets you branded a nasty liberal, worthy of having that abomination of nature, Mann Coulter, call for your death.

Kos compares the W personality cult to North Korea's own personality cult around the Kim family. Too bad that South Korean immigrants around me, who claim to absolutely abhor personality cults because of North Korea, are in fact the biggest supporters of the W personality cult. (And they even made a supporting personality cult around Reverend Moon.) Maybe I should really consider moving before W's America becomes a carbon copy of the worst of both Koreas.

Britney Spears, bad parent

Obviously, I don't expect high judgmental skills from someone who tells me to put complete faith in someone like W.

But the media seems to have woken up to the fact that Britney is a bad parent - and a bad role model.

MSNBC article

Poor role model

She signed the "virginity pledge" to please the cultural fascists, then slept with Justin Timberlake.

She blabbered on and on about the "sanctity of marriage," then had a 54-hour Las Vegas marriage annulled.

And her most spectacular quote was to "trust the President in everything he does, and have faith."

Enter Britney Spears, who is no more than a right-wing media whore being marketed as a teenagers' role model. Her latest offense was driving while carrying her newborn son in her lap, and blaming the paparazzi for it. Honestly, if I were with a baby and being chased by paparazzi, my lap would be the last place the baby would go.

Los Angeles County Sheriff will not press charges against her. Bad mistake.

BBC Article

Immigrant Culture Clash in Germany

Just read an article off of the BBC website, and it says that German Muslims are upset over 30 new questions that test their "democratic values" for naturalizing as German citizens. Some are as follows:
  • How do you view the statement that a woman should obey her husband, and that he can beat her if she doesn't?

  • You learn that people from your neighbourhood or from among friends or acquaintances have carried out or are planning a terrorist attack - what do you do?

  • Some people hold the Jews responsible for all the evil in the world, and even claim they were behind the attacks of 11 September 2001 in New York. What is your view of this claim?

  • Imagine that your son comes to you and declares that he's a homosexual and would like to live with another man. How do you react?
Are these questions loaded? The third one definitely is, but to me, the others are fair game.

I do believe that most of these questions are worth asking. Immigrant sexism and homophobia are severe problems, both with the Surinamese community in the Netherlands and with various communities here in California. It appears that Germany does not want to fall into the same fate, given that the 9/11 hijackers gathered in Hamburg, and that honor killings are starting to become common.

Immigrants have been credited with bringing bits of their own culture and contributing it to the host nation's culture. It's definitely happened in America, and to a lesser extent in Europe, and both places are much better off for it. But that does NOT mean that immigrant primitive moral values should be allowed to infiltrate the host culture and bring it down, especially in a society like America, where native primitive elements are already doing severe damage to the social fabric. To me, "immigrant contribution" to a given society does NOT, and shall never, include honor killings, for starters.

I do hope that this test, if applied, is consistently applied to not only Muslims, but also Christians and people of other faiths and backgrounds as well. The problems are not limited to Muslims.

Bias in the workplace

This hits really close to me. I once lost a contract job as a computer technician at Northrop Grumman in late 1999, in the midst of the Wen Ho Lee "Chinese spying" scandal. The scandal was nonsense because Lee was a Taiwanese-American with no loyalty to mainland China, and my dismissal from the job - charging me with things I never did - was just as much of a nonsense. I was lucky to even qualify for unemployment insurance, and never worked in IT again.

My conclusion is that I was fired because I was seen as a "security threat" as an Asian, just like Lee himself. I had to work in many "US citizen only" areas, where security was of paramount importance. Of course, the federal government - the same bastards who made up the scandal - told me that I had no case.

I was so incensed that if Bill Richardson, the then-Energy Secretary under whose watch this whole thing happened, became Al Gore's running mate, I was going to vote for hated W. (This was before W caused two of my jobs to vanish.) In addition, I flew over to Amsterdam (on a free United Airlines ticket) with the intention of staying there illegally, but ended up coming back, when the Surinamese thugs proved Amsterdam to be a living hell, not the heaven of tolerance that it was made out to be.

The Washington Post article below, which I picked up from the Angry Asian Man blog, tells me that I am far from alone, and that employers, ranging from Best Buy to a Kia dealership, are still engaging in blatantly discriminatory practices.

Democratic Underground removed

I've removed Democratic Underground from the links section of this blog.

The overzealous censors at DU decided that my innocuous observations - that nonwhite cultures tend to be more homophobic than "live-and-let-live" white liberals - constituted racism.

No wonder the progressives keep losing. While they try to cover everybody in a huge bubble of political correctness, they are destroyed from within by immigrant pro-Republican homophobes such as the Cubans and the Koreans. And all they can do is scratch their head and wonder what happened.

I withdrew my $35 contribution from DU, and will send it to the Democracy Cell Project instead. And I will not let them dictate what to say, and will certainly not let them cripple me in my fight against ethnic homophobia, which is even more dangerous than white homophobia because it's less noticeable.

Christian Tyranny - and BMW

Everyone knows I love BMWs. I've loved them for as long as I can remember, I loved test-driving them at every opportunity, and when the time came, I leased one. And it's been two years - and my 3-series is a wonderful machine. Until today, the plan has been to get another one when the lease on the current one is up, and pick it up in Munich.

But seeing how the Christo-fascist machine is doing damage to the American society, how Pope Benedict is part of it, and how much BMW loves Pope Benedict (who is also Bavarian), I don't know if I can go buy another BMW in good conscience anymore.

Benedict has downplayed the compassionate side of the Christian agenda, pushing forward a more "fire and brimstone" agenda that specifically targets women and gays. With this kind of leadership in the Catholic church, any friend of such an evil institution - including BMW - is suspect at best as *my* friend. Sure, BMW has supported women's causes such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and its Drive for a Cure, but when it also supports Benedict and gives him free X5s, all of this becomes suspect at best. And gaywheels.com names BMW a homophobic car company, right alongside Hyundai (beholden to the Korean-American fascists) and Nissan.

As I see the Christian tyranny continue with the confirmation of Alito and W's homophobic agenda, I will do anything that will help weaken and destroy it. And if buying a super-efficient Honda Civic Hybrid instead of a BMW 3-series will help out, by giving fewer dollars to the oil companies and keeping money away from evil Benedict, so be it. My vanity will surely suffer, but there are more important things than vanity. As for performance, "downgrading" to a Civic will mean that I'll miss it - but it's hardly necessary on Los Angeles' jampacked streets and freeways anyway. And if choosing something other than a BMW will mean that I will not make that trip to Munich, so be it; religious right-wingers in Bavaria are no better than their American counterparts, and don't deserve my tourist dollars.

And if buying a cheap car instead of a BMW will help me save more money so that I'll be able to leave the fascist Diamond Bar hellhole sooner, that may be the most beneficial change of all.

I haven't ruled out the BMW completely, I admit. However, today, it's a much less attractive option than it used to be.

Recent developments

I stayed away from the blog, fed up over the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court, and last night's "State of the Union" speech. The Democrats who voted for the filibuster of Alito have my respect and support, including both of my Senators. The Democrats who didn't... well, no thanks.

I am officially leaving the Democratic Party, and re-registering as a "decline to state." In California, "Independent" often means American Independent, the California arm of the far-right Constitution Party, which pulls more support than Democrats in many parts of Orange County. In the meantime, the DCCC will not get the $150 I pledged; it will get a torn-up Democratic voter registration card instead. A wimpy, ineffective, cowardly institution like today's Democratic Party does not deserve my support. If it wants my support, it must clarify its positions, and get rid of such figures as Republican Lite Joe Lieberman (and Zell Miller), as well as homophobes Tim Kaine and Stephanie Herseth.

In the meantime, Cindy Sheehan was arrested while protesting lawfully at the "State of the Union." Cindy explains the circumstances on TruthOut. Since when has losing a son to a phony war, and being angry about it, been a crime?
