Post-apartheid South Africa is making progress nicely. I just learned that the high court has declared limiting marriage to heterosexuals unconstitutional, and that gay marriage must be legalized within a year.
It won't be a popular decision though; homosexuality remains a taboo in South Africa, and the high incidence of AIDS there doesn't help either.
