Something posted by my online friend, Violet Bliss Dietz, based on a New York Times article and a book. While most people think Republicans are better for economic growth, the findings shown here, based on historical US economic performance from 1948 on, argue otherwise, and make a strong case for Democratic economics. Granted, they only count the presidency (not the control of Congress), but I don't think that changes much even with control of Congress counted in.
